I am Ataasiaq. I am from Nome. My mom is Sherry. My dad is Darrin, of Unalakleet. My gram is Laura Evans of Shishmaref. My papa is Bob Evans. And also my other gram is Mary Otton, and my grandpa is Henry both of Unalakleet. My husband is Jared of Kotzebue. Our two daughters are Holland and Ilaani. Our son is Nuuk.
I am a proud alumni of the Caleb Lumen Pungowiyi Scholars Program. I used my biology degree to become a teacher for Bering Strait School District for ten years. The last two years of my time there was as an admin Coordinator of Cultural Programs. I am continually learning and using our Inupiaq language in my household and now teach beginner adults in Nome, where I am the Operations Manager for the Katirvik Cultural Center.
